children's books
an strategy for adults when sleep is hard to come by
Today’s lab is simple and very opposite of last week’s deep read of Walter Benjamin. In fact, I think he would hate this activity!
I have been struggling to sleep because of domestic and international affairs. The constant rhetoric of hate, supremacy, and hubris, paired with unchecked power and real-life consequences, feels frustratingly purile and ignorant at its least and life-destroying at its most vicious.
I struggle not to scroll to catch up on the news and reports at night when I am in bed, and the house is quiet. But this habit gives me nightmares and makes me feel hopeless.
So, I have turned to reading children’s books at bedtime.
