Love zines!! I love how freeing them can be. And they can be about anything! AND they’re small so when you just need to have something finished it doesn’t take long about any subject that interests you in the moment!

I love every single thing about this: the beans, the collage bits from This page Is a Portal. I have matching ones in my journal! Today I made a zine from a magazine page and bits from rejected poems. And I've been listening to WKPN all week. Thanks for the inspiration!

I always thought of myself as not being creative enough or some other kinds of enough to make zines. I don't know why, it sounds ridiculous as I write this.

But the way you describe it, it just feels different somehow: quick, simple, attainable, creative and fun without pressure and judgement, safe. A way to work on letting go of the perfectionism that plagues me.

I like the idea of having little bits and scraps in a container with a glue stick just for this purpose, and I love all of your theme ideas. What came up for me was my gardening ideas that I think of now, in the depth of winter, and then forget about when summer rolls around.

I also love the beans - and speaking of which - I made my version of your beans and rice recipe that you shared awhile back and it was fantastic!

Oh my gosh! That is why I share my "bad", sloppy zines. Even at their worst, I cherish them (especially when I find them years later). But also, the process of making them is relaxing and an easier form of journaling.

A gardening zine is a great idea. I want to do something similar, especially after looking at seeds and plants this weekend!

And I am glad you liked the beans! I did not grow up liking beans (in the south, they always have a hamhock in them, which I don't care for). I am so happy to find other recipes as an adult!
