look here
looking to exhaust a place
Welcome to Wednesday Word Church! I appreciate you subscribing and hope to give you a meaty exercise each week that leads to a new author to explore, different perspectives on a current project, or the generation of a completely new idea/curiosity thread.
This week, I want to think about slow looking. This is a topic I have been exploring and using in my creative writing classroom for the last few years. It is simple but not easy. Summer feels like a good time to delve in because there is so much activity in the natural world and amongst people. My urban backyard is filled with birds, thick pollen floating in the air, and a constant cycle of blooming trees and wildflowers, which are vibrant for a week before browning and falling away. My front sidewalk is populated by both robins eating worms and neighborhood kids walking to the Dairy Queen at the end of my road.
And the desire to bask in the warmth is seductive, so let's take advantage of it.
